Fizik Arione Versus X Kium Road Saddle

The Fizik
Arione VS X K:ium Saddle gives you the celebrated shape of the Arione
line while providing your ‘nads with that all important room to breathe,
which makes the Arione VS X K:ium among perhaps the most comfortable
saddles in the world.
The Versus X line from Fizik is a nod towards those riders who have missed the presence of a relief channel in earlier Fiziks. This version of the Versus line has a shell made from Fizik’s carbon reinforced nylon, keeping it stiff and supportive, while the Wing Flex on either side of the saddle moves with your legs’ pedaling motion to give just when and where you want it, but without sacrificing any of the support you need while putting the power down to your pedals. This design forces the saddle to adapt to the rider rather than the rider having to adapt to the saddle, which is one major reason why so many different rider types fit the Arione. The shell is covered in the sturdy Microtex material used on most Fizik saddles. The relief zone addition runs the length of the saddle and offers a 20mm deep channel designed to provide the kind of pressure relief that will keep the blood flowing to all the right places while still offering the stiffness and durability of a solid base saddle. Both sides of the channel are covered in a low density padding, adding to the comfort level without heaping on the grams. Like all Fizik saddles, the Arione VS X K:ium does slot into the Spine Concept for the flexible rider with an aggressive position. But if you also have narrow sit bones, you should also consider the Arione since it is the sleekest of the Fizik line, and could very well suit you even if you can’t quite reach your toes.
The Arione VS X K:ium uses Fizik’s K:IUM rails. K:IUM is Fizik’s proprietary metal alloy, the exact formulation of which they understandably keep close to their chest. However, they have given it a tubular design and a particular finishing process that is intended to reduce potential fatigue of the rail surface. On top of that it offers an eight percent weight reduction from the titanium rails we saw on earlier Fiziks, giving the k:ium rails an astounding strength-to-weight ratio.
